While she often jokes that she’s “just the accountant,” Bridgett Mathis, Board Member, is utilizing her experience in consulting and financial management to lead Window World into its next era of success.
Bridgett developed an interest in helping small businesses flourish, which she parlayed into her own consulting company, with Window World as a client.
Immersed in her family’s small business in North Wilkesboro, NC, at a young age, Bridgett has spent a lifetime developing a keen sense of management, along with a pragmatic approach to getting things done. During her time at Meredith College, Bridgett discovered an affinity for accounting, which she took all the way to a Master’s Degree from Appalachian State University.
Upon graduation, Bridgett started her career specializing in tax at McGladrey & Pullen (now RSM), where she acquired the requisite professional hours to become a Certified Public Accountant. She then moved to the Tax Department at Hearst Corporation in Charlotte, NC. In the course of her work there, Bridgett developed an interest in helping small businesses flourish, which she parlayed into her own consulting company, with Window World as a client. In establishing her own firm, Bridgett honed her understanding of the rigors of entrepreneurship, while affording herself time to focus on her two children, whom she credits as her greatest supporters and source of fun!
Eventually joining Window World full time as Controller, Bridgett took responsibility for all financial transactions, as well as the annual tax and audit processes. As she got more involved in operations, Bridgett assumed a crucial role in developing Window World’s overall strategy, leading to her 2014 promotion to Chief Financial Officer.
In 2015, Bridgett was appointed to the Window World Board of Directors, a recognition of her commitment to guiding Window World and its stores into a third decade of industry-leading sales, service, and philanthropy. Her emphasis on listening, attention to detail in implementation of new initiatives, and her drive to take care of people are at the heart of her work every day.
